WHAT EXACTLY IS INGED/ELEA?

The acronym stands for INGILIZCE EGITIMI DERNEGI/ENGLISH LANGUAGE EDUCATION ASSOCIATION.

The association, which was founded in 1995, aims to bring together English Language Professionals from all levels of education in Turkey.

Anybody who is involved in English teaching in or outside Turkey can join INGED.

WHAT ARE OUR AIMS?

INGED, the English Language Teachers' Association in Turkey,

is a vocational and educational association.

is not related to any political party and does not get involved in politics.

aims to help English teachers and/or anyone involved with English language education:

to exchange vocational experiences, opinions and findings;

to follow the latest developments in English language education;

to self-develop;

to develop English language education by using contemporary scientific methods and techniques.

HOW DOES IT OPERATE?

INGED is administered by a seven-member Executive Board.

A General Assembly Meeting is held every year.

WHAT CAN INGED OFFER YOU?

Professional Development through seminars and workshops throughout the year as well as the Annual International 3-day convention with well-known speakers from overseas as well as Turkey.

A forum in which to exchange ideas share problems and find solutions on classroom teaching

Developmental opportunities through teacher training and trainer training seminars organised in collaboration with Ministry of Education.

A chance to specialise in certain areas in ELT by joining SIGs (Special Interest Groups). Two existing SIGs are QuELT and MELT SIGs

A quarterly newsletter mailed to you, containing articles, practical descriptions of activities by members, detailed descriptions of conference and seminar sessions to inform members who couldn't attend, information on local and international events as well as affiliate (IATEFL & TESOL) news

A chance to join IATEFL & TESOL at a reduced price

Annual Drama Festival organised for secondary/high school students to give them a chance to display their language skills and practise using English in an enjoyable atmosphere

A chance to get discounts on ELT books & dictionaries from publishers

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?

The annual membership fee is 20 YTL.

The fee entitles you to free admission to all the INGED days, workshops and seminars. You can attend the Annual International Convention at a reduced price.
